Kill … Thou Shalt Not Kill
Related to April 13th, “Leftist Assembly for Change” published a poster for their amnesty law campaign calling on Lebanese citizens to refrain from electing “war criminals” to government positions. They also produced a report reading “don’t return to April 13”—urging individuals on either side of the political divide, under the equally sufficient phrase, “to remember, not return.” The positive aspect of this poster is its visual linkage between the “war” and “politics:” in a country plagued by successive seasons of war and peace, and which has been immune to any serious review or accountability, the least we can do is examine elections, the spirit of our “amnesty” laws and proactively lessen amnesty provided in future wars.
